The
International Centre for Low Dose Radiation Research has been established at the
·
the effects of low doses of
radiation in man and in the environment;
·
the development of novel approaches
to analyse the risk in large populations exposed to low doses of radiation;
·
the societal and financial
implications of a confirmation or a refutation of the hypothesis that radiation risks are
directly proportional to dose;
·
communications between the
public, the industries, and government departments and agencies about the
reality and the perception of radiation risks;
·
the extension of methods
and tools developed for the analysis of radiation risks to risks attributed
to physical or chemical agents other than radiation.
The Centre will carry out
its mission through a series of interrelated, multi-disciplinary research
projects. The initiation of the
projects is staggered in time because some projects depend on results produced
by earlier ones. New projects
will be added when the need arises.
The main projects are briefly presented below.
